The Coalition for Competition in Media, a group that opposes Comcast’s bid to acquire 51 percent of NBC Universal, is ramping up its lobbying efforts with letters to the National Association of Attorney’s General and five state attorneys general in California, New York, Oregon, Florida and Washington. The letters, posted Wednesday (Aug. 4) called for a close review of the proposed acquisition that “would cause a media monopoly that results in higher prices for consumers and more limited access to programming.”

Formed in early July, the CCM is made up of a group of 21 businesses and public interest organizations including Bloomberg, National Telecommunications Cooperative Association, Free Press, Writers Guild of America, Free Press and Media Access Project.
