The same day Clear Channel Radio reported a 13 percent revenue drop in fourth quarter and a 7 percent drop for the full year, the company announced Monday (March 2) it created a new position to drive revenue management.
Named to the newly-created position of senior vp of revenue management is John Kaufman, who joins CCR from Extended Stay Hotels, where he served as executive vp of revenue management and electronic marketing.
In his new position, Kaufman will be responsible for maximizing inventory across the company's radio station portfolio. He will also be hiring a team of up to 40 revenue managers across 150 markets to help optimize inventory and set pricing.
"Clear Channel Radio is stepping up, again, to improve our ability to support our sellers and advertisers," said John Hogan, president and CEO of CCR.
Prior to Extended Stay Hotels, Kaufman was vp of global revenue management for Starwood Hotels and Resorts. He has also held positions with Priceline.com and American Airlines. Kaufman is also a frequent guest lecturer on revenue management in the travel industry at Columbia University's graduate school of business.
