Arbitron updated its plans Friday (Oct. 2) to increase the sample sizes in its portable people meter markets.

The radio ratings firm said it would increase by 10 percent its sample among persons 18-54 by mid-year 2011, a slip of six months from the original plan. In July 2008 Arbitron said it would increase by 10 percent its sample among persons 12 and older by the end of 2010.

The new plan calls for the increase to be phased-in over time with an 8 percent sample increase by the end of 2010, when Arbitron will have completed the roll out of the PPM to the top 50 markets.
