A.J. Clemente's On-Air Gaffe Sparks Whirlwind Media Tour

Anxiety-ridden blunder garners 15 minutes of fame

No one probably could have guessed 48 hours ago that A.J. Clemente's dubious broadcast debut would get flipped into 15 minutes of fame. But since getting fired by KFYR-TV in Bismark, N.D., for his "rookie mistake," everything's turned up roses for the recent West Virginia University grad.

YouTube views of his foul-mouthed, anxiety-ridden performance have topped 1 million, sparking TV interviews this morning on the Today show, Morning Joe, Live! With Kelly and Michael and Inside Edition. During the last several hours, Clemente chatted up Matt Lauer, received a pep talk from Tom Brokaw, got a gig offer from Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan to cover a red-carpet film premiere and Instagram'd with Alan Alda. What's more, the young man tonight will be on Late Night with David Letterman.

There's been an outpouring of support for Clemente to get a second chance, including from journalists like Dan Frommer.

Clemente's Twitter presence has grown to more than 13,000 followers. And one of his tweets today may perfectly sum up the a whirlwind week that's seen him rejected in Bismark only to be embraced in the Big Apple.

Lastly, from the Sex Pistols on British TV to Tom Hanks on Good Morning America, Clemente has actually joined quite a litany of media notables with a F-bomb blunder on their resumes. Here is a video-clip rundown of some of the more memorable curse-word gaffes in broadcast history.
