Web video production firm Revision3 is bringing its popular series Diggnation to Facebook through a new application, which enables fans to circulate their favorite moments of the show through their various friends' circles.
Diggnation is a weekly Web talk show/podcast themed around technology, which reaches close to 200,000 viewers per episode, according to Revision3 executives. During each episode, hosts Kevin Rose and Alex Albrecht break down the most popular tech stories on the social news site Digg.com.
The company has tapped social media syndication specialist iWidgets to create the new Diggnation widget specifically for Facebook. Fans who download the widget on Facebook will automatically alert their friends via their individual Facebook News Feeds. Officials hope that dynamic increases the usage of the widget, and ultimately, the fan base of the show.
“The Diggnation widget will offer our engaged and devoted fans the opportunity to share the Diggnation experience with their networks of friends, colleagues and classmates who appreciate similar experiences, exposing new and previously untapped audiences to a program that has become an Internet television phenomenon,” said Ron Richards, Revision3’s senior director of marketing & product management. Officials said that Revision3 will eventually look to monetize the new widget, possibly with banner ads, pre-rolls and sponsorships.
