Nike’s Soccer Endorsements Pay Off With Viral Videos

Nike continues to push its hefty endorsements of Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior and Cristiano Ronaldo after this summer’s rousing World Cup. Two new spots featuring the soccer stars hit gold on this week’s Adweek/VidIQ top 10 branded YouTube video chart.

Neymar’s video (which has been viewed 9.46 million times with 815 shares on Facebook) shows the athlete surrounded by indestructible mirrors as he races down the soccer field. The other clip animates Ronaldo for 30 seconds as he scores a curved goal. Ronaldo’s video was uploaded on Aug. 7 and already boasts 3.55 million YouTube views. It's been shared on Facebook more than 2,000 times.

The ALS Association’s Ice Bucket Challenge has been taking over social feeds for the past month, and videos from Samsung and Beats by Dre actually cracked the list of top 10 YouTube videos.

A three-minute clip from Pepsi also made this week’s list. Earlier this summer, the soda brand set up what it claims to be the "world’s largest claw game" at the Jersey Shore to promote its #RealBigSummer campaign. Although the effort may have simply been a marketing stunt, the video has been viewed 4.1 million times since it was uploaded on Aug. 14 and includes a paid media push.
