Marketers including Disney, Nissan, Pizza Hut, Dunkin' Donuts and Toys "R" Us chimed in to celebrate the royal birth on Saturday. While there were, predictably, some cheesy tweets—we're looking at you, Pizza Hut—other brands used the occasion to showcase cute pictures of kids.
Adweek asked digital marketing agency Prime Visibility to pull the top 10 branded tweets about the new British princess in terms of engagement, which measures favorites and retweets.
There were 1.5 million tweets mentioning the royal baby between Saturday and Monday morning, according to Prime Visibility. By comparison, the Kentucky Derby saw roughly 267,000 tweets and the NFL draft had 1.4 million mentions. Those numbers are small potatoes, however, compared with the whopping 11 million tweets related to the so-called Fight of the Century between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao.
