CBS News has launched crimesider.com, a blog tied to its long running 48 Hours franchise which focuses on real life crime news. The new blog is part of a slew of changes initiated this week for the news division’s digital operations, including several new original video series and an elaborate site redesign.
This August, CBSNews.com is planning to roll out The Tomorrow Show, which is being hosted by comedian and frequent CBS News contributor Mo Rocca. That series will feature scientists, authors and other experts discussing the future—topics ranging from technology to pop culture. In addition this summer the site will introduce In Sickness and in Health, a weekly health-themed series hosted by CBS News medical correspondent Dr. Jennifer Ashton.
Also on the originals front, CBSNews.com has announced that the Beltway-centric Washington Unplugged, launched in February as weekly interactive talk show hosted by CBS News veteran Bob Schieffer, has expanding to become a daily series as of this week.
All of these content changes are unfolding just as CBSNews.com unveils an extensive redesign on Tuesday (June 16). The newly revamped site promises more breaking news, as well as roster of new blogs: Political Hotsheet, WorldWatch, EconWatch, CourtWatch and RightsWatch. CBS has lined up Sprint, BluePhone and Gateway as sponsors of the redesigned news site.
