Batman's New Favorite Gadget Is a Leica Camera

Director tweets on-set pic of Ben Affleck, endorses brand

Holy camera, Batman! The world got its first look at Ben Affleck as the Dark Knight, and Leica Camera got a lot of exposure on Twitter today.

Zack Snyder, the director of the upcoming Batman vs. Superman, took an on-set photo of Affleck in costume and tweeted it with a shout-out to Leica's M Monochrom camera. This will be Affleck’s first time donning the cape, and his casting initially caused an Internet backlash.

Today's photo received 36,000 retweets and 19,000 favorites, putting it in similar territory to a selfie taken by David Ortiz with President Barack Obama at the White House in April.

The Ortiz-Potus photo got 43,000 retweets. Samsung retweeted the photo, revealing its phone was responsible for the presidential picture, which irked White House handlers unaware the president was being used in an alleged marketing stunt.

Leica's social team retweeted Snyder's image. The new movie is a sequel to Snyder's Man of Steel reboot, which had more than 100 commercial tie-ins in 2013.
