“Baby Got Back” rapper Sir Mix-A-Lot is making his mark on the social gaming scene with a new Facebook trivia game, MixNMatch. The game challenges people to answer a list of silly either-or questions — but they have to guess which option Mix-A-Lot (or a Facebook friend) would choose. Is Mix-A-Lot more scared of zombies or vampires? Would your friend prefer a Snuggie or a Shamwow? A back rub or a front rub? The King of Beers or the King of Pop?
Players are coached by an animated Mix-A-Lot along the way, and score points for each of their correct guesses, which can be redeemed for prizes like exclusive tracks, a personalized video shout-out from the rapper posted to their Facebook wall, or even a chance to ride in a Lamborghini with Mix-A-Lot himself.
The game was created by Seattle-based interactive agency Giant Thinkwell, which specializes in creating social media promotions for celebrities. (The startup's game, the vaguely creepy Celebrity Baby Jackpot, has players pretend to be paparazzi selling pictures of famous babies to gossip rags.)
So what made Mix want to team up with Giant Thinkwell? “From an artist perspective, this is the first time in my career I can shape my brand, my personality,” the rapper told Business Insider. “They used to think ‘OK, this is a dumb guy who likes Big Butts and asses’ because that is how I was promoted by the record labels. But now, I come down to meet with the Giant Thinkwell team and they don't go, ‘This is what we're doing,’ they say, ‘What should we do?’”
