They’ve conquered mobile phones worldwide, been reincarnated as plush toys, and will soon be available on your TV. Now, everybody’s favorite flock of warring birds and their porcine enemies are headed to the big screen.
Rovio, the company behind the hit game Angry Birds, announced yesterday that it’s hiring former Marvel Studios chairman David Maisel to help turn the game into a movie. Maisel, who was an executive producer of the Iron Man movies, Thor, and The Incredible Hulk, will also serve as executive producer of the Angry Birds film and special advisor to Rovio.
“David was instrumental in rebooting Marvel Studios and turning it into a blockbuster-producing powerhouse,” said Rovio CEO Mikael Hed in a statement. “We welcome his experience and vision as we continue broadening our entertainment production scope at Rovio.”
