Just weeks after replacing its president and CEO Mary Berner, Reader’s Digest Association has shaken up its top management, naming Dan Lagani to oversee a larger portfolio as president of North America. Lagani, who had been overseeing the company's flagship magazine, adds responsibility for the company’s lifestyle businesses that were previously handled by Suzanne Grimes. Grimes, a longtime Berner pal who had been with the company for most of Berner’s tenure, is leaving the company.
“Suzanne did a lot of great things for the business,” Lagani said in a phone call. Putting all the North American units under one head will be more efficient, though, he said.
Before joining RDA in 2010, Lagani was president of Condé Nast's Fairchild Fashion Group. Earlier, he led Meredith's Better Homes and Gardens.
As part of the shift under Tom Williams, Berner’s replacement, RDA’s India business will fall under the Asia Pacific region. Lisa Sharples, who as president of All Recipes had been reporting to Grimes will now report directly to Williams.
