Ben Zagorski, most recently the associate publisher of Atlantic Media Strategies, has packed up and moved to NewsBeast, formerly known as the Newsweek Daily Beast Co., as vp, publisher. Zagorski fills a position that's been open since Ray Chelstowski was ousted as part of a shakeup in November 2011. He'll report to NewsBeast president Rob Gregory.
Before joining The Atlantic Media Co. last summer, Zagorski had ad sales positions at Salon Media Group and The New York Times. Zagorski “has terrific experience and relationships nationally, at both clients and digital agencies, in all major markets,” Gregory wrote in a memo announcing the change. “He's been on the cutting edge of product and tech trends in the digital space, and can make a substantial contribution as we continue to innovate.”
Traffic at The Daily Beast is currently averaging at 15.2 million uniques a month, said a rep, and Gregory boasted in his memo that NewsBeast’s first-quarter ad revenue had "beat budget by double digits." The site also recently named as columnists two vets of the Obama administration: former speechwriter Jon Favreau and former faith advisor Joshua DuBois.
