No doubt it’s nice to be wealthy. But is it essential? In polling conducted for AARP’s My Generation magazine, few respondents said it is for them. Just 13 percent of men and 12 percent of women rated “having a lot of money” as essential. By comparison, 55 percent of men and 67 percent of women rated “spending time with family” as an essential part of life. Also high on the list were “staying healthy and physically fit” (49 percent of men, 53 percent of women) and “feeling good about myself” (46 percent of men, 55 percent of women).
