BOSTON Omnicom Group's TracyLocke said it has named former Coors Brewing CMO Ron Askew as its chief executive officer.
Askew, who will be based in Dallas, takes over from Ed Winter, who becomes chairman of the marketing agency. Winter had been CEO since 2003.
"Ron is a highly skilled and successful marketing executive who gets our agency's approach to activating our clients brands using a full arsenal of media and marketing tactics," said Winter, in a statement.
Before joining Golden, Colo.-based Coors, Askew had founded the Integer Agency in 1993, which he grew into a 15-office operation with 750 employees. He sold Interger to Omnicom in 2001.
He began his career in 1975 as a TracyLocke summer intern; during his initial 18-year stint at the agency, he held several posts, including vp of marketing and director of account service and research.
Askew stepped down from Coors in December [Adweek, Dec. 6]. Coors in January named Lee Buxton to fill the CMO post on an interim basis.
Key TracyLocke clients include America Online, Hasbro and PepsiCo.
