Tan, Dix Fill ACD Posts at Deutsch

LOS ANGELES Interpublic Group's Deutsch/LA has hired Arty Tan as vice president and associate creative director, the agency said.

Tan will work on Deutsch's T.G.I. Friday's and Expedia accounts and partner with vice president and associate creative director Jason Elm, the agency said.

Tan arrives at the Marina del Rey, Calif., shop from independent Ground Zero, Los Angeles, where he worked on the California Department of Health Services anti-smoking campaign. Tan had previously worked as an art director at Fallon's "West Wing" in Santa Monica, Calif.; as an associate creative director at Omnicom Group's TBWA\Chiat\Day, Playa del Rey, Calif.; and for independent Wieden + Kennedy and Leagas Delaney on brands such as Nike, Lee jeans, Adidas, Amoco, Taco Bell, Energizer and Jim Beam.

Martin Dix has been promoted from senior copywriter to vice president, associate creative director. Dix worked for a broad range of Deutsch clients, including Mitsubishi, Coors Light and the California Milk Advisory Board. He also helped the agency win Old Navy last year.

Eric Hirshberg, Deutsch managing partner and executive creative director, said in a statement: "I feel like Deutsch/LA is entering its second act. And Martin and Arty will be two of the stars. They're both mature, smart and visionary."

TGI Friday's and Expedia spent $75 million and $150 million, respectively, on advertising in 2004, per Nielsen Monitor-Plus.
