Subway Seeks 'Champions'

BOSTON Subway has launched a national search for 'Champions'—kids who are active and eat right.

The winner will get the chance to star in a television or print ad for the sandwich chain, according to the client.

"Subway wants all kids to live long and healthy lives and they can take significant steps in doing so by adopting a play hard and eat fresh lifestyle," said Suzanne Landino, marketing manager at the Milford, Conn.-based client, in a statement. "Many are doing so right now and we want to reward these 'Champions.' We also hope that kids who are eating healthy and staying active will encourage their friends to do the same."

Subway will select 10 winners who will, in addition to being in a Subway ad, have the opportunity to earn a $10,000 529 Plan scholarship and a vacation for two. The contest will run from Aug. 15 to Sept. 26 and is part of the chain's commitment to fight childhood obesity.

TV spots promoting the contest feature 14-year-old champion surfer Bethany Hamilton. The ads will air from Aug. 15 to Sept. 11.
