Jack Stahl has resigned as president and chief operating officer of the Coca-Cola Co.

The decision was due in large part to restructuring plans that didn't include Stahl.

As part of CEO Douglas Daft's initiative -- "Think local. Act local." -- operations are being organized into units for America, Asia, Europe/Africa and new business ventures. Jeffrey Dunn is the Americas chief, A.R.C. "Sandy" Allen heads up Asia, Charles Frenette oversees Europe/Africa and a leader has yet to be named for new ventures. All report to Daft

Stahl, a Coke veteran of 20 years who most recently oversaw alliances with Nestle and Procter & Gamble, will seek "new leadership challenges elsewhere," the company said in a statement Sunday.
