NEW YORK Advertising veteran Carl Spielvogel has joined the advisory board of Havas’ Media Planning Group USA. He will assist MPG in formulating strategic and tactical decisions for the development and growth of the company and its clients, the company said in a statement.

Spielvogel began his career as a journalist with The New York Times and was its first daily advertising columnist. After 10 years he joined McCann-Erickson in 1960. He was later named executive vice president and general manager, before joining McCann’s parent company, Interpublic Group in 1972, where he rose to chairman of the executive committee and vice chairman.
