NEW YORK OMD confirmed it has hired agency veteran Cathy Cohan as U.S. director of marketing and business development.
Cohan, who will report to OMD U.S. chief executive Page Thompson, replaces Lisa Spielman, who left late last year for a position at ZenithOptimedia. In her new post at Omnicom Group's OMD, Cohan will be responsible for shaping marketing strategy and overseeing new-business efforts.
Cohan joins OMD from Roth Associates, the New York-based agency search consultancy, where she was an executive vice president. Before joining Roth in September 2005, Cohan ran her own consulting practice, Marketing Mainstay.
Prior to that she spent four years at Omnicom's BBDO in Atlanta, where she was chief marketing officer. During that period, the office teamed with BBDO in New York to win the Cingular Wireless account.
"Her successful track record throughout her career and specifically at BBDO Atlanta make her a welcome addition to OMD," Thompson said, in a statement.
Prior to joining BBDO, Cohan was director of business development at WPP Group's JWT in Atlanta, where she spent seven years. Early in her career, Cohan held account posts at New York shops such as Scali, McCabe, Sloves and TBWA.
