Publicis Reorganizes Creative Department

NEW YORK Peter Nicholson, chief creative officer of Publicis in New York, is leaving the shop, the agency said today. His duties will be absorbed by Duncan Marshall and Howard Wilmott, who are being promoted to executive vice presidents, executive creative directors, as well as David Corr, already an evp, ecd.

"David [Droga, worldwide chief creative officer] has taken a pretty big role in New York and having two chief creative officers in the same office was kind of redundant," said Nicholson, whose last day will be Sept. 15. "We reached a mutual agreement that it would be better that I'm not there."

Nicholson, 36, had been chief creative officer for two years at the Publicis shop. He said he was pursuing other projects but declined to name them.

Marshall, 36, and Willmott, 42, report to president and CEO Gill Duff. They were previously senior vice presidents, ecds, working on accounts including Amstel Light and TBS. They will be responsible for managing Publicis' New York creative department along with Corr.
