New President at Avrett Free & Ginsberg

NEW YORK Stuart Grau has been named to the new post of president at Avrett Free & Ginsberg, effective immediately.

Grau, 44, reports to chairman and CEO Frank Ginsberg and is responsible for overseeing new business duties and expanding relationships with existing clients.

He was previously chief strategic officer at the New York shop. Taking over some of his previous duties will be James Streit, director of account planning, and Naomi Mersky, senior account planner.

"Its a good way to restructure the agency and give the middle structure some autonomy," said Ginsberg.

Ginsberg did not consider anyone else for the position, he said, and chose Grau because of his strong understanding of strategy for all of Avrett's clients. Grau began at Avrett in 1989 as account director; a year later, he became the new business director and soon after established the agency's account planning department.

"Its an organic promotion for him," Ginsberg said.

With 115 employees, Avrett's clients include Nestle Purina, Lugz and Van Cleef & Arpels.
