In the tight labor market of 2000, workers had the upper hand. Now, the faltering economy of 2001 looks likely to alter the balance of workplace power, and some employees will face tough choices. A recent Zogby poll posed one such issue as it asked full-time workers, “Would you accept a pay cut to keep from having to move to another city?” A majority (63 percent) would take the cut and stay put; 33 percent would pull up stakes.
