Initiative Media North America last week named marketing consultant Jennifer Razor vp and director of business development.

Razor, 30, succeeds Liz Marks, who left the Interpublic Group shop last month to join Havas' Media Planning Group USA. Razor is based in New York and reports to Jill Botway, evp and director of marketing.

"With her experience on the agency side, the cli ent side and working with other communications disciplines, Jennifer brings a broad perspective in the marketing-communications equation," Botway said.

Razor spent the last two years as a marketing consultant for clients such as Barnes & Noble and Grey Global Group. Last Decem ber, she helped coordinate pitches that won the $120 million BellSouth creative account for darkGrey, sources said.

"The strategy was to put BellSouth on a par with brands like AT&T, but on a local level," Razor said. "I helped develop partnerships among people in the agency who handled telecom business as way of smoothing out the pitch process."

Besides leading Initiative's business development, Razor will manage the shop's database, Botway said. "The database will include mar ket ing information about spe cific com panies and industries, and in turn will allow us to get closer to clients," Botway said.

Razor began her ad career on the account side at Young & Rubicam, San Francisco, in 1994. In 1998, she became marketing and brand manager for San Francisco-based RedCart, which allows consumers to shop via the Web using a universal "shopping cart."
