NEW YORK Interpublic Group's Initiative has appointed Mike Tunnicliffe global client and network development director, a new position in which Tunnicliffe will oversee global and multi-regional new business efforts and also serve as the top liaison with existing multi-region and global clients.
Tunnicliffe had been Initiative North America's chief strategic officer, a post he assumed about one year ago. He will remain in New York and continues to report to Alec Gerster, ceo, Initiative Worldwide. "I have seen Mike drive to deliver the best of the Initiative network against new business opportunities," Gerster said in a statement. "His knowledge of our network and the media business makes him an ideal choice for this role."
Tunnicliffe is an international media agency industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience. He joined Initiative's London office in 2000 as evp Initiative Worldwide, managing client assignments and relationships with the agency's teams across 48 markets.
Prior to joining Initiative, Tunnicliffe was managing director of IPG's Western International Media for two years in London. Prior to Western, Tunnicliffe held a variety of senior positions at media specialist Tempus Group/CIA (now part of WPP's and known as Mediaedge:cia), including managing director, CIA Medianetwork and deputy ceo, CIA UK Holdings.
Said Tunnicliffe in a statement: "Having spent significant time over the last years traveling the globe working with the many talented Initiative teams and a diversity of clients in all major markets, I am excited by this opportunity to build on that experience to lead those teams to drive both our existing and prospective clients' businesses forward."
