CHICAGO Check 'n Go, a chain of 1,200 payday loan outlets, has awarded media planning and buying on its estimated $10 million account to Empower MediaMarketing in Cincinnati, the agency said.
The Mason, Ohio-based company had previously handled media in-house. Mahan Advertising in Cincinnati continues to handle creative, while Cutting Edge Communications in San Antonio handles Hispanic efforts.
"Through the development of a strategic media plan, we will work to further enhance Check 'n Go's visibility and reinforce its reputation as the industry's gold standard," said Regina Lithen, svp and partner at Empower, in a statement.
Check 'n Go, a subsidiary of CNG Financial, has locations in 29 states. The company spent $12 million on measured media in 2004, according to Nielsen Monitor Plus.
Patrick Niehoff, vp of marketing for Check 'n Go, said in a statement that in addition to Empower's media skills, its corporate culture was a close match for the client. That led to the assignment, which was made without a review.
