DCCC Taps Media Strategies for $50 Mil. Buying Biz Colo. Company Will Lead Democratic Push in Midterm Elections

Media Strategies and Research, a Denver-based political specialist, has been awarded media buying duties for the Democratic Con gres sional Campaign Com mittee, the client confirmed.

The win followed a review of several undisclosed shops with past political experience, sources said. The DCCC and the National Republican Congressional Committee, both based in Washington, raise money for the election of candidates to the U.S. House of Representatives. The DCCC budget is an estimated $50 million.

Media Strategies will do both national and spot-market buys and may subcontract to local media services to bolster Democratic efforts in races at the local level, according to sources.

In previous elections, Media Strategies has bought media for the AFL-CIO and secured ad time for opponents of a ballot initiative in California that sought to bar the state from recognizing same-sex marriages.
