D'Arcy Execs Jump to DDB N.Y.

NEW YORK--Two former executives from Publicis Groupe's D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, John Russo and Bob Nelson, are joining DDB in New York on Jan. 13, a representative for the agency confirmed.

Russo joins DDB N.Y. as co-executive creative director, partnering with John Staffen to run the Omnicom agency's creative department. In the past, Russo has worked on clients such as Audi, Bahamas Tourism, Philips Electronics and Subaru and contributed to campaigns from agencies Levine Huntley Schmidt & Beaver, Plapler, Russo and Associates and McKinney & Silver. Most recently, Russo served as executive director of D'Arcy in New York, and Nelson was evp, management director of global creative services there as well.

Nelson, who began his career at DDB N.Y. in 1970, returns as director of broadcast production. He has worked at Levine Huntley Schmidt & Beaver, TBWA and Lowe. He has done work for clients such as Diet Coke, Mercedes, Club Med, Evian and Heineken.

The personnel moves follow last month's news that Lee Garfinkel, D'Arcy's former worldwide creative chief, spurned an offer from Publicis Groupe Chairman Maurice Levy, to go to DDB as chairman and chief creative officer. No start date has been set for Garfinkel at DDB.
