LOS ANGELES Departing from an ad strategy that has so far stressed his biography through black-and-white historical footage, Wesley Clark on Monday released a 30-second color spot that addresses the Democratic presidential contender’s leadership abilities in a new way.

Produced and directed by Joe Slade White in East Aurora, N.Y., the commercial, called “Imagine,” features a close-up of Clark against a dark curtain. “We need to get back to the simple principle that it’s the duty of leaders, whether in business or in government, to look out for the people they lead, not just for themselves,” Clark says in the spot.
