CHICAGO General Motors’ Pontiac division will unveil two TV spots during this weekend’s NCAA basketball tournament telecasts to introduce the Pontiac Solstice roadster and promote new G6 coupe and sedan models.

The music-driven, special effects-laden spots, from Publicis Groupe’s Chemistri in Troy, Mich., and Chicago, continue the use of the GM division’s “Designed for action” tagline. Various lightning-like effects flash on the screen, along with different views of the cars. “We started with a blank canvas,” intones the voiceover in one spot, “then infused the power of design to three totally new performance machines.”
