CHICAGO Leo Burnett has hired Ben Kline to fill the vacant post of chief marketing officer for its U.S. operations, the agency said on Tuesday.

Kline had been managing director of Wieden + Kennedy’s Portland, Ore., office. He was also CMO at independent Wieden, which he joined in 1997 as global account director on Nike. He took the managing director job in May 2001.

Kline, 40, will oversee new business efforts and report to Burnett’s U.S.
