The Bernard Hodes Group has acquired the recruitment marketing unit of interactive specialist CW/Rampage.

Terms of the deal, which was overseen by Hodes chief financial officer Joseph Fortunato and senior vice president Carol Barber, were not disclosed.

"We're thrilled to combine the creative thinking and outstanding experience of CW/Rampage and Hodes," said Barber. "Both agencies are known for superior creative work and their sound grasp of emerging recruitment technologies."

CW/Rampage's Miami Beach, Fla., staffers and accounts will be folded into Hodes' office in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Hodes also has Florida units in Tampa and Orlando.

"Rampage had significant accounts that we didn't have and weren't likely to get," added Barber. "In return, the deal frees Rampage to focus on interactive consumer brand advertising."

New York-based Hodes is a Omnicom Group subsidiary operating more than 70 offices and affiliates in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia.

Hodes provides integrated marketing services—advertising, branding, account management, consulting, media planning and research—to the human resources divisions of major domestic and international corporations.

"We do all the basic work that sets one employer out from another in a cluttered field," Barber told Adweek. "And we provide strategies that help recruit and retain great people."

Hodes' Florida roster, which currently includes Office Depot, American Express, Ryder Service, and the Norwegian and Caribbean Cruise Lines, will be bolstered by CW/Rampage's Burger King, The Sports Authority, Auto Nation, Sunglass Hut International and Nations Rent business.

"In this market, we only had one real competitor," said Barber. "We'd come up against them again and again in pitches. Now we've brought that talent here."

Former CW/Rampage's recruitment division director Mary Krichbaum joins Hodes as senior director of client services, while Sheila Sheer comes aboard as senior account executive. Other staffers making the move include production artist Amy Cinnamon and senior account coordinator Greyson Miller.
