NEW YORK Avenue A/Razorfish has elevated Colin Kinsella to serve as president of its Western U.S. operations.

Kinsella, 39, succeeds Clark Kokich, who in September 2005 was named worldwide president of the agency, a unit of aQuantive. The shop's Western region includes offices in Seattle, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Portland, Ore., with more than 450 total employees.

Kinsella was previously general manager of the agency's San Francisco and Los Angeles outposts. He reports to Kokich.

In his new role, Kinsella said he would focus on two issues: retaining and attracting talent and building the agency's capabilities in emerging technologies.

"We could grow even quicker if we had more talent, the right kind of talent," he said. "Building an agency [where] talent wants to [join] is part of what we're doing."

Kinsella sees growth potential in helping clients navigate the myriad digital media options now available.

"We'll help figure out when it is appropriate to try new and emerging media, when a desktop widget is right, when to try Second Life or mobile," he said. "For every client, the answer is invariably quite different."

Kinsella was named gm at the agency in 2004. Prior to joining Avenue A/Razorfish, he led creative and strategy at online marketing firm Quinstreet, and he has also held posts at FCB's San Francisco office.
