As the bad economic news keeps coming, Americans en masse may start trading down to less-expensive venues for their shopping. It hasn’t happened yet, though, according to polling by The NPD Group. Fifty-five percent of adults said the economy’s current struggles have had “no impact” on where they shop for products: “I still shop where I’ve always shopped.” Another 26 percent said the economy has had “little impact — I’ve changed just one or two of the retailers I’ve shopped at.”
