Scott Vitrone and Ian Reichenthal, co-chief creative directors at Y&R New York, are joining Wieden + Kennedy in New York as executive creative directors.
The move marks a return for Vitrone and Reichenthal to the agency where they began their partnership in 1999, working on Nike.
Last week, Y&R confirmed that the creative team, which joined the WPP Group agency in 2008 from TBWA\Chiat\Day, were departing. At Wieden, Vitrone and Reichenthal take over from executive creative directors Kevin Proudfoot and Jerome Austria, who left last month.
Wieden + Kennedy N.Y. works with clients that include ESPN, Delta Air Lines, Nike, Jordan Brand and ABC Television Networks.
The independent agency’s co-founder and global executive creative director Dan Wieden said of Vitrone and Reichenthal: “Their talent is unquestionable, as is their leadership ability and knack to make the best creatives even better. All they need is a bit of freedom to do their thing. We’ve got plenty of that.”
