Publicis N.Y. Taps ECD on Vicks

NEW YORK Joe Johnson, a creative director at Ogilvy & Mather here, has joined Publicis in New York as evp, ecd, with oversight for the agency's creative teams working on Procter & Gamble's Vicks cold medicine products.
 
Johnson, who was at Ogilvy since 1986, has also worked on campaigns for Fage Yogurt, American Express, Miller Lite, Kraft, Morgan Stanley and the New York Mets. His racy "Catfight" commercial for Miller ranks as one of the 10 most-downloaded Super Bowl commercials of all time.
 
About 18 months ago, he was part of Ogilvy's first integrated creative group that combined traditional, direct and digital disciplines on behalf of Kraft.

"I love that Joe has a truly integrated approach and I love his passion for the work," Rob Feakins, president, CCO at Publicis here, said in a statement. "Joe has won awards on a wide range of accounts and not just those that are in categories you should win."
 
Johnson said: "Publicis called me and I met with Rob and we sparked. He's interested in communications being a single integrated thing. It's the future of advertising and while everyone says that, they're institutionalizing it and living it."
 
He joins three other Publicis New York executive creative directors: David Corr, who handles P&G's oral care and family care products; Peter Moore Smith, Citi and Boost.org; and Simeon Roane, Nestle brands and Vault.
