It’s try, try again for The Daily. Only a week after its launch, News Corp.’s iPad newspaper has already released its second update to the app following widespread complaints about bugs in the first two versions.
This latest iteration promises better performance and bug fixes, and it may have delivered. Since its release, complaints by reviewers in the App Store have trailed off.
“Finally you guys have it down right (the startup),” wrote one.
The kudos aren’t universal, though. Some complained on Twitter that they couldn’t retrieve back issues, that the app didn’t keep their place when they closed and reopened it, and that crashes persist.
“The @daily has now broken the record for how many times I've been asked to delete and reinstall an iPad app,” Jeffehobbs groused on Twitter.
The Daily is still in its two-week free trial period. But users may be less tolerant of bumps when the trial ends next week and they’re asked to start paying for the paper, which will cost 99 cents a week or $39.99 a year.
