MMB Adds British Telecom Assignment

BOSTON-?McCarthy Mambro Bertino has added the British Telecom Conferencing account, a new domestic offering from the UK-based telecommunications concern.

The initial budget is $5 million, but that amount is expected to increase substantially next year, according to officials with MMB.

The 20-person Boston shop, formed earlier this year, is set to develop advertising, direct mail, corporate design and interactive efforts such as e-mail campaigns for the client.

The first creative work is set to break in the next few weeks. Ads will focus on services BT offers for business travelers such as audio, video and web conferencing services, according to Fred Bertino, president of MMB.

The win should help buffer MMB following its loss of the creative portion of Boston Beer's advertising account earlier this week. "It's a timely piece of business," said Bertino. Boston Beer spent about $15 million last year, per CMR.

MMB's other major clients are Jiffy Lube and Thomasville Furniture.
