NEW YORK Alec Gerster, former worldwide CEO at Interpublic Group’s Initiative, has joined Waltham, Mass.-based Navic Networks as chief marketing officer, a new position at the company.

Navic develops technology for addressable advertising and interactive TV, including servers that disseminate relevant ads across multiple platforms based on consumer behavioral targeting.

Gerster will be based in New York, establishing a presence for the firm in the heart of the agency community. Overall, Gerster is responsible for broadening industry awareness and usage of Navic’s digital targeting and optimized television advertising technologies.
