PARIS Richard Pinder has been given sole leadership oversight for Publicis Worldwide.

He has served as chief operating officer at the Publicis Groupe-owned network for almost three years, and he will keep the CCO title moving forward. In addition, he joins P12, Publicis Groupe's executive committee. (Check back later this week for a video interview with Richard Pinder.)

Olivier Fleurot, Publicis executive chairman, has been named chief executive of the holding company's public relations, corporate communications and events management unit, which includes companies such as MS&L Worldwide, Freud Communications and Publicis Consultants. With the departures of Mark Hass and Eric Giuily, he assumes the operational management of both their networks as well as that of Publicis Events.

Fleurot and Pinder (pictured above) were appointed to the top of the Publicis network in October 2006 after then-COO Rick Bendel left the company to take the post of group marketing director at Asda.

Prior to joining Publicis, Pinder was president of holding company sibling Leo Burnett Europe and, before that, regional marketing director, Leo Burnett, Asia/Pacific. Before joining Burnett, he was managing director at Ogilvy & Mather in the U.K. He began his career at Grey, London, where he spent 11 years in various roles.

Also. In addition to supervising Publicis' Shared Service Centers, Jean-Yves Naouri, evp, group operations will now also oversee the Production Platforms operations.

Holding company CEO Maurice Levy said in a statement: "These steps are all part of the goal to simplify our organization in order to make it more efficient for our clients, more profitable, all the while aiming for more dynamic growth. Olivier Fleurot's experience in the financial press, followed more recently by that as executive chairman of Publicis Worldwide, clearly shows his thorough understanding of businesses, of their communication problems and how to bring them the right solutions. It was only natural then to leave Richard Pinder the leadership of Publicis Worldwide, with its ambitious new growth objectives, and to ask Jean-Yves Naouri to bring his expertise to our production platforms."
