BVK/McDonald Adds Koeneke, Wins Sun Country Air Account

Steve Koeneke, who two months ago left the agency he formed with partners Rich and Denise Kohnke, has joined BVK/McDonald in Milwaukee.
Koeneke, a copywriter, was named a creative director at BVK/McDonald, which has a heavy concentration of healthcare and travel-related clients.
Koeneke began his career in Minneapolis with Campbell Mithun Esty and Carmichael Lynch. He and the Kohnkes started Kohnke Koeneke four years ago, attracting clients including the YMCA and the Greater Milwaukee Convention & Visitors Bureau. In 1994, Koeneke was named to the Adweek Creative All-Star team as the Midwest TV copywriter of the year.
Differences over the future direction of the shop led to Koeneke's resignation in September. He was replaced by David Hanneken, previously a creative director at Hoffman York in Milwaukee, and the shop has been renamed Kohnke Hanneken.
Separately, BVK/McDonald has won the $1-3 million account for vacation package carrier Sun Country Airlines in Minneapolis, according to Dick McDonald, managing officer at the agency. Sun Country flies to 23 U.S. destinations in addition to Latin American and Caribbean sites.
