BBDO New York has been awarded the Viagra business, currently handled by mcgarrybowen, sources said.

BBDO sister Omnicom companies CDM and Rapp have existing relationships with the brand. Healthcare specialists CDM, formerly known as Cline, Davis & Mann, handles HCP (healthcare professionals) initiatives and agency Rapp works on digital for Viagra.

In 2009, mcgarrybowen won the-then $123 million account after a review in which incumbent McCann Erickson defended.

Execs at Dentsu's mcgarrybowen could not be reached. A BBDO spokesman declined comment and referred all calls to Viagra parent Pfizer.

“Mcgarrybowen has been an exceptional agency partner and has helped us generate substantial awareness of Viagra and executed high-quality programs on behalf of the brand," a Pfizer spokesperson said in a statement. "The decision to end our relationship with MB was only due to a Pfizer enterprise-wide agency consolidation.”

The addition of Viagra follows a string of new business gains for BBDO. Last month it was awarded creative accounts for Bud Light, Emirates Airlines North America and the ING New York City Marathon.

Over the past year, mcgarrybowen has been hit with a string of account losses including Burger King in February after Mother was appointed creative lead on the business; Marriott International's flagship brand Marriott Hotels & Resorts, which went to Grey last September; and Bud Light, which shifted to Translation a year ago. However the agency won creative duties for Staples in May.
