The Young Turks Are About to Hit a Billion Views

The TYT Network as a whole has already crossed the one-billion-online-views threshold. Soon, the individual program that started it all, The Young Turks, will also reach this vaunted watershed mark.

To celebrate, the online companion to the Current TV program is staging a fun little contest. On Monday’s broadcast, host Cenk Uygur explained that the grand prize winner will receive two plane tickets to LA, three nights’ hotel accommodation and an invite to a special “One Billion Views” party being held at YouTube Space LA May 9.

Those wishing to enter must find the link embedded each day in one of the description boxes for the program’s YouTube clips. Contestants are encouraged to enter daily, right on through to the close of this WizeHive co-sponsored online scavenger hunt on April 19.

Update – 04/23/13: The press release came out this morning, indicating that the billion-threshold was crossed Monday April 22. “I remember wondering early on whether a million people would ever watch the show,” says Uygur. “I thought that was an amazing number. I’m the most optimistic guy in the world, but even I wouldn’t have believed the billion number. It has been an amazing journey.” Congrats to all involved with this landmark Web-TV program.
