Silently nod with us in agreement if you board a flight and slip on those earphones even though you may not even be spinning tunes on the other end. The goal? Of course, to block out chatty neighbors.
Well, when your boss is flying in the seat next to you on an international flight, the protocol is a bit more formal and professional. According to a piece in today’s New York Post, it’s important to follow your boss’ lead.
Greg Giangrande, HR executive in the media industry, writes,
“He will make it clear what he wants to talk about and when. If he starts a business conversation, go with it. If he starts talking about the kids, don’t respond with new business ideas for people with families. Other tips: Don’t drink alcohol unless he orders a cocktail first.”
And on an international flight, just be aware of your own actions like sleeping and dare we say snoring? Even though you’re in a relaxed environment, you’re still sitting next to your boss.
