Jane interviewed some of the top media recruiters in New York to find out what they don't like to see in a resume...this is our second week looking at what she found out. Week 1 Beth Thorbahn Reeves, who oversees the global media and entertainment practice for Diversified Search Odgers Berndtson states: Keep it simple and donâ€™t use a lot of explanatory text.Stay away from functional resumes as they just make the reader think you are hiding something.No personal information unless you wrote a book or do triathlons. She doesnâ€™t want to know how many kids youâ€™ve got or what you look like.No fancy fonts. Stick with Times New Roman or Arial.No four-page resumes. Two or even three-pages are OK.If you put in a long summary, it wonâ€™t get read. Keep it short and sweet.Donâ€™t leave any part of your job history out. List old jobs without any body text if you are short on space.Put graduation dates in or else it looks as though you are hiding your age.
