Postal Regulatory Commission Denies USPS' Rate Hike Proposal

Previously, we reported how the United States Postal Service was seeking permission from the Postal Regulatory Commission to enact a rate increase of an average of 5.6 percent in order to offset the losses it has experienced in recent years — especially during the recession. The Direct Marketing Association (DMA) and other groups, worried about the impact the rate hike would have on business, made their opposition to the proposal known. Well, they can now rest easy: The PRC reached a unanimous vote to decline the USPS’ request.
