Times To Get Smaller, More Expensive

That issue of the New York Times you’re reading is about to get more expensive (and smaller). Starting on July 16, the newspaper is raising their cover price and their subscription rates.

Here’s the scoop, courtesy of Times spokeswoman Catherine Mathis:

  • Daily price: Jumping to $1.25

  • Sunday price: Jumping to $4 in the New York metro area

  • Home Delivery: An increase of “3 percent to 4 percent”

Times Co. COO Janet Robinson promised shareholders the move would mean an additional $14 million to $16 million annually.
