Time has named Kelly Conniff its new social media editor. Conniff comes to Time from The National Geographic Society, where she had worked since 2009, most recently as social media manager.
“As part of her job, Kelly will collaborate with other top Time editors to bring an enhanced social focus to the complete Time portfolio,” said Time.com’s managing editor, Catherine Sharick, in a memo.

I’m very pleased to introduce, Kelly Conniff, TIME’s new social media editor. Kelly will be taking TIME’s outstanding presence on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr, Google+, Foursquare, and Pinterest to the next level. As you all know, TIME is the third largest news brand on Twitter with more than 3.8 million followers and the #1 news brand on Google+, with a strong presence on the other leading social sites as well. This summer, TIME successfully partnered with foursquare for the 2012 political conventions, offering exclusive badges, as well as tips, guides and an interactive map on TIME.com. As part of her job, Kelly will collaborate with other top TIME editors to bring an enhanced social focus to the complete TIME portfolio, which also includes a trio of stand-alone iPad apps, multiple versions of the TIME iPhone app and the Samsung TV app, making TIME a four–screen digital platform.
At TIME, Kelly will work closely with associate social media editor Amy Lombard in continuing to expand the social reach of TIME.com and LIFE.com. Amy has been in charge of the LIFE.com social platforms and has grown the @LIFE feed to over 1.5 million followers. LIFE also enjoys one of the biggest followings of any media brand on Pinterest.
Kelly joins us from the National Geographic Society, where she expanded NatGeo’s digital footprint across various social platforms, including growing the brand’s presence on Twitter from 200,000 to more than 2.3 million followers. Kelly is a graduate of James Madison University and received a master’s degree from American University.
