After 124 Years, Scholastic Opts for 'Teacher'

Explains EIC Tara Welty: "Our new, more modern name better reflects the term today's educators use to identify themselves."

ScholasticTeacherThis particular magazine started out in 1891 with the name Normal Instructor. But as of the Fall 2015 issue (pictured), the fifth name change makes it Scholastic Teacher.

Not to be confused with the separate, other magazine Scholastic previously put out under that title. From a report in Education Week:

“We’ve been kicking around the change for a couple of years, but we’ve been nervous,” Tara Welty, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, said in an interview. “The teachers we talked to really don’t call themselves ‘instructor’ anymore.
