Politico is launching a free, quarterly magazine featuring past content from Politico Pro, its subscription-based site. Politico Pro covers technology, energy, tax information and more.
According to paidContent, the site’s popularity spurred the decision to launch the magazine. If the numbers are correct, Pro “reaches 7,000 professionals per month and has a renewal rate of 96 percent.”
If more people sign up for Pro because of the magazine, whatever it costs to produce it will be well worth it. It’s difficult to nail down just how much a Pro subscription sets one back, but Nieman Journalism Lab reported that individual subsciptions can run $3,295 per year and group subscripitons start at $8,000.
